P0P F0LK T3XT1L3S
Presented in partnership with Le Labo, Toronto’s Francophone Media Arts Center, the exhibition is the final stage of Le Labo’s mentorship program. This year, the emerging artist and curator Sophie LeBlanc partnered with established artist Thom Sokoloski to develop the P0P F0LK T3XT1L3S project. After a successful run at la Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario in Sudbury, the exhibition is coming to Campbell House Museum.
P0P F0LK: T3XT1L3S is a group exhibition resulting from a consideration of those points that textile arts and popular culture have in common. Curator Sophie LeBlanc is interested in how textiles are omnipresent in our daily lives. In fact, she points out that textiles are so integrated in our day-to-day existence that they end up becoming nearly invisible. Still, the ubiquity of textiles does not bring about the disappearance of all their characteristics: we recognize the particularities of a certain pair of socks even though we might only rarely consider the conceptual or basic form that unites all the possible socks across the world.
The exhibition features works by: Danielle Gignac, Greta Grip, Mariana Lafrance, and Judy Martin.
This program is supported by the Ontario Arts Council.

Memories of the Future
Curated by Noa Bronstein and Katherine Dennis
Featuring works by Bambitchell and Aleesa Cohene
Memories of the Future is an annual, multi-site project that invites contemporary artists to respond to a theme through the creation of site and context specific installations at various historic houses and museums across Toronto. Employing a range of media and approaches, these interventions explore the layered narratives and hidden stories of our socio-material history. Using the visual language of the present and speculating on possibilities for the future, memories of the past are newly exposed, interpreted and remembered.
This exhibition is supported by the Toronto Arts Council and the Ontario Arts Council.
