Canadian Legend Mark Fewer joins Stereo Live for an evening of solo violin music by Ysaye, Schulhoff, and a new caprice by John Novacek and Atar Arad, written for Mark Fewer himself. Mark will also be joined by Stereo Live Artistic Directors Edwin Huizinga and Keith Hamm in a performance of the Kodaly trio. It will be a night to remember!
Described as “genre-bending” by the National Post, and “intrepid” by the Globe and Mail, Mark Fewer has performed around the world to critical acclaim in virtually every role asked of a violinist – and then some. His regular musical diet includes performances from the early baroque to the avant-garde, with recent performances as soloist with groups as wide-ranging as the Melbourne Symphony (Australia), the Fodens-Richardson Brass Band (UK), the Zapp Quartet (Amsterdam), and the McGill Percussion Ensemble (Canada). He is also a dedicated chamber musician, jazz violinist, artistic director, and teacher.

We regret that, due to personal circumstances, the April 8th Bach from the Heart concert has been canceled.
We will be contacting patrons who have already purchased tickets.
The next Stereo Live concert is on May 21st, featuring Canadian legend Mark Fewer.
Bach from the Heart brings you a unique perspective on the communicative powers of music and poetry. Sheila Jaffé (violin), Catherine Cosbey (violin), Brenna Hardy-Kavanagh (viola), and James Churchill (cello) are exploring one monumental work’s mood, using excerpts from other musical and literary works which express similar feelings. The result is an emotional experience – a time for looking inside and letting the words and sounds transport you. For this concert, you will need to bring not only open ears but open hearts as well.
The six sonatas and partitas for solo violin are like pillars in the violin repertoire. In Bach from the Heart, they are exploring them from the emotional angle. Written in different keys, each of the sonatas and partitas set their own particular mood.
Date: Sunday, 8 April 2018
**total length of the program is approximately one hour – no intermission
