STEREO LIVE – the underground, cross-genre chamber series – is still one of musical Toronto’s best-kept secrets. This November, STEREO LIVE celebrates its third season with the Canadian premiere of Toronto/California duo FIRE & GRACE. The violin-guitar pair will perform their stunning contemporary classical and folk arrangements.
EDWIN HUIZINGA, internationally acclaimed violin virtuoso, and WILLIAM COULTER, Grammy-winning master of the steel-string guitar, bring a dazzlingly fresh, unique sound spanning genre and tradition. On November 16, FIRE & GRACE will fill the Ballroom at Campbell House with breathtaking skill and delicate expression. STEREO LIVE Artistic Director Edwin Huizinga promises that “the journey will take you from a Prelude by Bach to an Irish reel, from a tango by Piazzolla to a Spanish love song, from a Vivaldi movement to a Balkan dance tune. Expressive and compelling melodies, spirited and graceful rhythms, and imaginative arrangements unite this diverse music. Our project traces the fire and grace that connects classical, folk, and contemporary musical traditions from around the world.” The duo will also release their debut album through Roaring Girl Records on November 11, 2016.
With an indie edge, warm, welcoming vibe, and world-class polish, STEREO LIVE features dynamic stars of classical, rock, bluegrass, and more, over its annual three-concert run. The series was founded by violinist EDWIN HUIZINGA, an international baroque and classical violinist who has established himself as a singular fixture in Toronto’s music scene, sharing the stage with some of Canada’s most famous indie rock bands, foot-stomping bluegrass pick-ups, and leading international orchestras.
